Push Email on iPhone/iPad/Mac/iOS Devices

Because I seem to be the only person that understands how to get true imap push email notifications on an apple device, I decided to share the how to. This tutorial will give instructions on how to get push emails (that mens your emails will arrive in less than 5 seconds after its sent from a third party). The trick here is a combination of using your iCloud @me account and your IMAP or Domain Email account. I’m sure you may already know how to forward your email, but this tutorial will explain how to also send and reply from your @me account while using your IMAP/domain name.

First make sure to sign up for an @me account and forward your IMAP account to your @me account. (don’t ask me how, Google it or ask your email hosting company)

1. Delete any email account you already have setup.
2. Setup a @me account if you dont already have one.
3. On your ios device go to settings.
4. Click icloud, sign in and make sure that “mail” is turned off.
5. Click “mail, contact, calendars”
6. Click “add account” and enter account info for imap account and click “other”
7. Click “add mail account” and enter iCloud/me account info and click “next”
8. For incoming mail server, use host name: imap.mail.me.com >> enter @me email address and password.
9. For outgoing mail server, enter your imap account info.
10. Click next and make sure everything is checked for approval.
11. go back to the account screen and under “IMAP Account Information” where it says “Name, Email and Description” remove the @me email address and replace with your imap email address and save settings and get out of settings.

If the above doesn’t work, then go back and check to make sure everything stuck.

The end result is that you will be able to send, receive and reply from your imap account all while also getting push notifications.

You can also do the same thing on your iMac or Macbook or MacBook Air mail app.

The thing to understand is that the incoming mail server must be your @me account and the outgoing server must be your IMAP account.

If you have trouble, just be sure to read these instructions carefully and try again. You may have to remove your email accounts and redo them at first. Be sure to disable mail from your iCloud settings as well.

Feel free to ask questions below, but make sure you first carefull read the instructions.

Analyzing Project Feasibility

Making a Business Case
It is important to calculate the profit estimate when taking on new projects. Determining the net present value (NPV) of a project helps determine if a project should be accepted or rejected. The NPV is an important method to use in concluding the value of projects. The NPV formula determines the value of an investment based on its discounted cash flow. The NPV is calculated by subtracting the project cost from the present value (PV). The NPV capital budgeting rule suggest that projects with a positive NPV should be accepted and projects with a negative NPV should be rejected. According to the NPV capital budgeting rule, the firm could benefit from approving this project because of its positive NPV. Based on the positive NPV, this project can be assumed a valuable investment.

Project Risk
If there is concern regarding risk associated with the project, the firm could optionally use a cut-off threshold. A cut-off threshold prevents project budgets from going into the negative by using cut-off numbers that determine when and if a project should be shut down and abandoned. A project should be abandoned if the value is too low and the expected revenues do not justify further project investment. In addition, putting the project together in stages and with budgets for each stage can reduce risk. Upon each stage completion, the firm would invest into the next stage. Consequently, the financial risk would be minimized.

Decision Justification
Considering the NPV for this project is positive, it will likely generate positive cash flow and would not do any harm to the firms’ status quo. Having a positive NPV suggests the project will generate value for the shareholders’ wealth. If the NPV value is accurate and the project is successful, it could potentially have positive effects on the firms’ equity value.

In addition to the benefits, there are considerable risks and disadvantages of using NPVs. Considering NPVs are based on only assumptions, it does leave room for error. A small company could have a difficult time providing reliable estimates based on the NPV data. Minor changes in the interest rate could affect the projects discount rate, which could drastically affect the projects NPV. A concern of the NPV is its requirement to make calculated projections. In most scenarios, the formula will not be 100% reliable. Before deciding based solely on the NPV, a discounted cash flow analysis should first be analyzed. Although the NPV formula does present a feasible projection of cash flow, it does not present the projects actual return. Because of the difficulty of determining an exact valuation, there could be unforeseen cost, which could incur a negative cash flow rather than a positive one.

Something else to take into consideration when investing into a project is the IRR. Both NPV and IRR are tools used to evaluate potential project investments by measuring capital budgeting, which is the process used to determine significant business investments. While NPV examines cash flow value based on the discounted rate, the IRR defines the rate of return for a project based on the stream of cash flow. IRR is the discounted rate that converts the present value to zero by making the current value of cash flows equal to the present value of cash outflows. Disadvantages of using IRR is that it is not ideal for long-term projects considering the calculation does not evaluate discount rates. Another limitation of using the IRR is that the method does not consider the initial investment amount. This can present a problem when comparing two alternative investments based solely on the IRR. Businesses can use both NPV and IRR to assist with making investment decisions. However, there is no 100% method to use, which will guarantee a positive return on investment. When making an investment decision, the investor should take into account the IRR, NPV, and other investment indicators including risk, and alternative options.

Working With SEO

In order to create a successful search engine optimized (SEO) website, the designer must be sure that the website is well put together. In creating this website, the designer must first be sure that the website is appealing to the user and that the site is easily navigable. The way to create the proper architecture for a website is to be sure that the site is flat and has minimum user clicks to get to the destination page. “A great tip is to identify your most authoritative pages using the ‘Top Pages On Domain’ tool at SEOmoz and use those pages to add some authority to others by linking out to them” (Baxter, 2009).

In addition to creating the proper navigational structure of the website, the designer must also check for broken internal and external links. Some tools to use for finding broken links consist of “Xenu’s Link Sleuth” tool and “Web Link Validator” tool which will crawl through the website and recognize any broken links.

Another technique for helping with the architecture of a website is to check the server header response code and to also check the site for duplicate content. If either of these is wrong in their results, they should be corrected. While some of the concerns may need to be fixed by the sites developer, others can be fixed by simply changing some wording or taking the proper steps with the search engines to correct the information.

The final steps that the author explains in order to make sure that a website has the proper architecture is to be sure that the site has one main URL by setting up a canonical 301 redirect. In addition, also be sure to remove the developmental site that was used to originally create the website. By leaving the developmental website on its server, this creates duplicate content that can get crawled by search engines and create a negative impact on the website. Once the live site is up and running, the developmental site should be taken down.
